Quantum Pings
A free synchronicity app that reads genuine quantum randomness and, when a reading spikes, sends you one short, reflective message to notice. The universe supplies the timing. You supply the meaning.
The one-liner
Quantum Pings watches a live stream of freshly measured quantum numbers and pings you only when the reading spikes. It never predicts — it marks timing. A spike is only a number until an observer notices it, so meaning requires you.
Two ways to tell it
The synchronicity story
Real quantum randomness, turned into moments you notice. The app grounds itself in Thomas Campbell's idea that consciousness is fundamental and Jung's synchronicity: the machine supplies the timing, the user supplies the meaning. It's an experiment in whether meaning survives contact with a machine.
The indie build story
The defunct SyncTXT app — Psyleron's synchronicity messenger, spun out of Princeton's PEAR lab — died around 2020, US-only and abandoned. Quantum Pings is its modern rebuild: a free, installable web app with real quantum noise, web push, and an LLM that grounds each message in the reading.
Key facts
- • Reads genuine quantum fluctuations from the ANU Quantum Numbers API, not a computer's pseudo-random imitation.
- • A ping fires only when a fresh reading's z-score crosses the anomaly threshold (default 2.2).
- • Readings are sampled hourly; pings are spaced at least 15 minutes apart, so they stay rare and meaningful.
- • The proof page shows live mean, spread, chi-squared, entropy, and a histogram — so anyone can check the bytes.
- • No feed, no infinite scroll. Pings are a nudge to pause, not to keep scrolling.
- • Free to use — no app store, no account required, installs from the browser as a PWA. An optional Plus tier (7-day free trial) adds more sensitivity and memory; the pings themselves always stay free.
Built-in calm toolkit
Beyond the pings, Quantum Pings ships six free, full-screen practices for settling a racing nervous system. No accounts, no streaks, no feeds.
Breathe
A full-screen guided breath cycle with a soft rising and falling tone.
Tap
A bilateral tapping pacer. Cross your arms and tap left, right with the glowing orbs.
Sway
A visual bilateral pacer. Follow a glowing orb as it drifts side to side.
Sigh
The physiological sigh: two quick breaths in, one long breath out.
Beats
Two tones, one in each ear, gently entraining the brain from deep sleep to focus. Headphones on.
Glimmers
A noticing practice. Find the small, safe, good moments and let them brighten the room.
